Welcome to this part of my blog where I get the chance to tell a little about myself.

Who am I?!

I’m a SQL Server DBA with 10+ years of experience. I currently work as a SQL Server DBA. I’ve worked in several different industries from energy and financial to healthcare.

My love for data and databases started long ago when I became an accidental DBA and since then grew into what it’s at the moment.

In the past, I did some development in C#, PHP, and Java but that wasn’t me. I like data and love to tinker with data to make it understandable for everyone. What do I do?

You know that I’m a SQL Server DBA and that’s my primary focus at the moment. I work a lot with PowerShell which made my life a whole lot easier.

I’ve done work with high availability using fail-over clustering, mirroring, log shipping, and sorts alike. I do the occasional development of databases which brings my love as a developer back.

The thing about being a DBA (and for the entire IT industry) is that there’s is always something new to learn which makes your job so much fun.

The last few years have been interesting because I started presenting, something I wanted to do for a long time. This opened up a whole new world and I got the chance to meet new people. I like to present and reach out to people.

Is that it?

No of course that’s not it.

I live in the Netherlands, and in my spare time, I like to do sports like Crossfit, Shaolin Kempo, Snowboarding in Running. Have to keep in shape with a desk job 😉 So why this blog?

I’ve always had the urge to share what I experienced with others and wanted a place to organize everything that went on in my head.

Besides the stuff I write about, if you have any questions related to SQL Server or PowerShell, feel free to send me an e-mail. I like to be challenged and if I can’t answer your question I’ll have the opportunity to write a new blog thanks to you.

Hope you enjoy my blog and all your comments are appreciated.
